Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has poked holes in club midfielder Paul Pogba for a miscalculated tactical approach in Sunday’s 5-0 beating at the hands of smart Liverpool.
The World Cup and Uefa Nations winner came on as a substitute at the onset of the second half and spent only 15 minutes before he was sent off for a nasty challenge on Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita.
It was arguably a day from hell and one to forget for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men as Christiano Ronaldo also evaded what appeared to be straight red after kicking Liverpool teenager Curtis Jones in the same heated match, Ronaldo got away with a yellow card among other United players who were cautioned for foul play on the pitch.
However, Scholes has renewed his criticism of Pogba after Sunday’s massacre, the English football analyst and pundit saw it unreasonable for Pogba to come on and commit an offense that later came puncture the team’s performance further at Old Trafford.
Speaking to the Premier League, Scholes said: “To say a disappointing day would be a complete understatement. Liverpool had too much quality. I don’t think it was a lack of effort from United; I think tactically they were set up in a way where this could happen, and unfortunately, it did.

Forward Christiano Ronaldo has also broken his silence in the matter by calling upon his teammates to take full responsibility for Liverpool’s obliteration and improve from there.
Ronaldo states that no one should carry the blame in regards to the recent humiliation by their old foes before the home crowd. He has challenged United players to take it upon themselves and deliver for the deserved fans.
Meanwhile, reports reveal that the Manchester United board is in continuous discussions concerning the future of under-fire manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after Sunday’s thumping. The heavy beating saw United sink further into 7th position with 14 points in as many matches.
It is also believed that former Chelsea and Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte is available to take over charges from Solskjaer at the Theatre of Dreams to salvage the season for the Red Devils. Reports say Manchester United already knows what the Italian manager wants before striking a possible deal.
Manchester United will next on 30 October visit Tottenham Hotspur in yet another trick Premier League affair before facing Watford, Manchester City, and Chelsea in November.
