Police in Mbita are detaining a couple in custody over suspicion of murdering their ailing daughter.
According to the Homabay DCI Commander Phillip Sang the couple who have been living with their 26-year-old ailing daughter failed to provide satisfactory answers when the police were summoned to investigate the murder of their daughter. Among other things the scene of crime was interfered with showing attempts to hide incriminating evidence.
The couple which hails from Sigulu village in Ruri East location first reported the incident to the nearest police post but when it appeared blood from the victim had been cleaned and certain objects deliberately altered the matter was handed over to Mbita Police Station.
The victim identified as Evalyne Akoth had deep cut wounds on the neck which the couple claimed were sustained from an attack by unknown assailants.
