Top Sudanese side Al-Merrikh has sacked the head coach Lee Clark after being bundled out of the CAF Champions League.
Clark who was appointed as Head coach on 30th January, 2022 and sacked on 18th March, 2022 served for only 48 days.
Founded in 1927 Al-Merrik have won the Sudan League Championship nearly as many times as their bitter rivals Al-Hilal.
Al-Merrik crashed Express of Zambia in the ongoing CAF League before suffering humiliating 5—1 defeat to local rivals.
Holders Al Ahly from Egypt face tough challenges as they play in the same group with South African side Mamelodi Sundowns and Sudan’s Al Hilal and the deposed Al-Merrikh in Group A of the African Champions League. Ahly, led by former Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane, have won the title for the last two years and knocked the South African champions out in the quarter-finals in 2020-21.
Record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia and Tusker were bundled out of the competitions at the play-off stages leaving Tanzanian’s Simba SC’ as the only East African team remaining in African club competitions this season.
Meanwhile Manchester United winger Tony Elanga has declared that he will be turning out for Sweden in international engagements and not his country of birth Cameroon.
