Alego-Usonga ODM Party Siaya Branch on Sunday carried out two successful popularization campaigns in West and Central Alego of Siaya County.
During the heavily attended outreaches, Alego-Usonga MP Samuel Onunga Atandi and Siaya County Senator James Aggrey Orengo led all aspirants cleared by the party in holding extensive consultations towards ensuring high voter turnout in the forthcoming August elections.
During the first rally held at Ratuoro Market in Kadenge village, MP Atandi who runs a feeding program for schoolchildren within the locality was accorded a hero welcome.
The highlight of the tour came at Udenda Primary School where Atandi appeared to campaign for Oburu Odinga who is vying for Senator and Aggrey Orengo who is vying for Governor.
The MP is confident of retaining his seat and breaking the one-term jinx that bedevils all past MPs of Alego-Usonga since 2010. His only rival is Washington Omondi Muluan whom he deposed in 2017.
“Oburu is time-tested, tried and proven to be a paragon of experience and wisdom “, the youthful Atandi told the Udenda Primary meeting in vernacular, adding “The youth who criticize his leadership fail to recognize that the Senate is the Upper House where traditionally Lords sit to ratify legislation.”
Orengo broached the thorny issue of the six-piece voting pattern saying that when Raila becomes president he will require support from regional leaders. He did not elaborate on what nature such support takes.
