Party Leaders from the main political parties on Wednesday submitted names of those to be considered for nomination of slots in the Senate, National Assembly, and County Assemblies.

The Constitution provides that 12 members are nominated by parliamentary political parties according to their proportion of members of the National Assembly to represent special interests, including the youth, persons with disabilities, and workers.
It also provides that political parties nominate 20 senators proportional to the number of Senate seats won by the party.

In these number 16 should be women, two members, being one man and one woman, representing the youth, and another two members, being one man and one woman, representing persons with disabilities.
As is to be expected the lists carried names of family, friends, and cronies of the party leaders. Also benefitting were faithful party aspirants who flopped in the party primaries.
Secretary Generals of UDA Party and Wiper Democratic Movement Party, Veronica Maina and Shakila Mohammed have included their names on top of the lists.
ODM Director of Elections Catherine Mumma and Chairman John Mbadi also feature in the lists.
All the main parties including Orange Democratic Movement Party, Jubilee, Wiper Democratic Movement Party, Amani National Congress, Ford-Kenya, and UDA Party will have chances to nominate members in proportion to the elected number of members in the specific assembly.
