Led by the Commission Vice-chair Juliana Cherera they made a statement at the grounds of Stanley Hotel, Nairobi: ” As the Commission, we have done a good job. Some things need to be rectified such as the opaque nature of the last phase of the tallying process. We cannot take ownership of the results that are going to be announced. We urge Kenyans to be peaceful and follow the right court process.”
Man on the spot: IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati.
Meanwhile, as the announcement was being made on the grounds of Serena Hotel, at the National Tallying Center in Bomas of Kenya, all hell broke loose.
The Chairman of the Electoral and Boundaries Commission who had indicated he will be releasing the results by 3:00 pm made his appearance on the podium after 4:30 pm under heavy guard of General Service Unit paramilitary officers.
Shortly thereafter Chebukati was mobbed by a group opposed to the anticipated announcement and in the melee, one person threw a chair from the elevated dias to the floor below.
Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina was at the çentre of the melee as the link below shows.

Inside sources indicate that the Commission Chairman Wafula Chebukati backed by two other Commissioners Abdi Guliye and Boya Molu (who took part in the bungled 2017) elections were willing to announce Dr. Ruto as the winner irrespective of the discrepancies noted by the other Commissioners.
Juliana Cherera led four Commissioners to dispute the results.
IEBC Commissioners Have Spit into Two Camps: Juliana Cherera, Francis Wanderi, Justus Nyang’aya, and Irene Masit have disassociated from the results.
While Wafula Chebukati, Abdi Yakub Guliye, and Boya Molu support the results.
Under the IEBC Act, the decision of the majority wins.
