Winnie Odinga.
Kenya is represented in the 54-member East African Legislative Assembly by nine legislators whose perks and emoluments are in the category of elected members of the national assembly.
Winnie has been having issues with her identity being the daughter of the famous doyen of Kenya’s opposition politics Raila Amollo Odinga. Winnie was also deeply involved in the just-concluded presidential campaigns alongside her father who was a candidate.

She believes these factors may polarize legislators against her and is now pleading: “Everybody is somebody’s son or daughter. One day you will just call me Winnie. What I am urging our leaders in parliament is that please, vote for me. Look at me in the context of my ability to serve.”

Also pleading to be considered is Wiper Democratic Movement Party leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka’s son Kennedy who is gunning for a second term in the regional Parliament.
The duo made their pleas on Thursday as they rallied MPs to vote for them in the November 17, 2022 elections which will take place in parliament to select the nine representatives to represent Kenya in the regional assembly.
The just-ended fourth session had 54 members from the East African Community (EAC) member states- Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, Burundi, and South Sudan.
