Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
“The narrative that the mountain unites only during electioneering but divides immediately after results are declared with the West perceived as benefiting at the cost of the East must cease.”
Speaking in Magumoni, Tharaka Nithi County, during the burial of Chuka Igambang’ombe MP Patrick Munene’s daughter Natasha Makena, Mr. Gachagua said he endorsed Mr. Kanini Kega for the EALA seat despite him being in Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition.

He outlined how the Eastern side benefitted from CS appointments in Mithika Linturi (Agriculture) and Kithure Kindiki (Interior) together with the Attorney General post that went to Justin Muturi.

He also revealed that there will be no more witch-hunting of the former Director of Criminal Investigations DCI Mr. George Kinoti.
“We have no time pursuing the likes of former Directorate of Criminal Investigations boss George Kinoti who tormented us.”
Talking about reprisals on the vanquished the DP insisted that there is no need to hold grudges but instead that the region should unite and claims a fair share of the national cake.

As an aside, Mr. Gachagua caused laughter when he said: “Even Sabina Chege whom we were not seeing eye to eye during campaigns will slowly be brought to the fold.”
