The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) on Thursday released a list of names of people who were booked over Christmas for driving while under the influence of alcohol.
Surprisingly not even one is a Luo-sounding name. Concerned about this anomaly the Alego-Usonga Member of Parliament posted on his Twitter handle:
Some of the responses he received were equally hilarious with someone suggesting that the Luo are chauffeur-driven and not likely to be subjected to the rigors of police alcoblow gadgets.
Unverified reports also claimed that various local airlines increased the fare from Nairobi to Kisumu to KES 6400 while Kakamega remained at KES 4000.
Eyewitness reports indicate that on 24 December there was a traffic jam stretching from Ahero junction in Kisumu County to Ugunja in Siaya County.
The list was published in a national daily on Friday.
Most fueling outlets were inundated by the number of cars that plied the Lake region during the Christmas festivities. It doesn’t matter that a good number of the vehicles belonged to car hire companies.
