A popular Eldoret bodybuilder who was arraigned in court on Thursday alongside Jackton Odhiambo and three others as prime suspects in the murder of activist Chiloba has said the police are using him as a cover-up.

Dennis Litali, who was Mr. Uasin Gishu in 2017 and is also the 2nd-runner-up for the 2022 Mr. East Africa bodybuilding Championship, told Senior Resident Magistrate Richard Odenyo that his arrest was a mockery and a cover-up by police.

Mr. Dennis Litali (left) looked composed and unrifled even as he was denied bail.

The bodybuilder denied knowledge of the other four suspects arraigned in court beside him, saying:

“All these people being held with me as suspects are strangers that I have never met. Detaining me for three weeks will subject my young family to a lot of suffering and anguish.”

Litali was responding to a request by the prosecutor to detain him for a further 21 days to conclude investigations into the murder of activist Edwin Kiprotich.

Dennis Litali will be detained at the Langas Police Station (above) for 21 days before being brought back to court.

Although he did not say what the police were covering up by arraigning him in court, Litali appeared quite relaxed and said he was certain the truth will emerge once investigations were complete.
