Dr. Fred Oken’go Matiang’i the former Cabinet Secretary for Interior on Tuesday afternoon presented himself for grilling at the DCI Headquarters on Kiambu Road.
Matiang’i outside the DCI Headquarters at around 4:30 pm when he was released.
Matiang’i arrived shortly after 3:00 pm and was held incommunicado (with only his lawyers allowed in) during the grilling process. A little drama ensued when Azimio scion Raila Amollo Odinga arrived at the DCI Headquarters around 3:30 pm and was also denied entry.
Crowds shouted “no Matiang’i, no peace” for a short while before the Azimio leader who was in the company of Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna left.

Subsequently, information emerged that the former Interior Cabinet Secretary will be charged with conspiracy to commit a felony and publication of false information. According to his lawyers, Matiang’i was advised not to respond to some questions during the grilling.
Normally after the charge sheet and fingerprint processing a person would be presented in court. However, in the case of Matiang’i after the processing, he was released at around 4:30 pm.
The police are at liberty to compel appearances in court at a time of their convenience.
