Ex-Nairobi Governor Evans Odhiambo Kidero will lose the hefty sum of KES 3.5 million for challenging the election of Gladys Atieno Wanga as Homabay Governor.

Dr. Evans Odhiambo Kidero.

On Tuesday the High Court upheld Wanga’s victory and imposed a fine on Kidero.

Justice Roselyne Aburuli further made the ruling that Gladys Wanga was legally and validly elected.

The judge said a certificate of determination will be issued to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), the Speaker of the Senate, and the county assembly.

The IEBC announced Ms. Wanga winner of the August 9 election with 244,559 votes to Dr. Kidero’s 154,182 votes.

Gemsuite Apartments on upscale Riverside Estate, Nairobi is only one among many of Kidero’s investments.

For Dr. Evans Odhiambo Kidero the KES 3.5 million fine is a small setback as his estates and assets are said to run into billions. The KES 3.5 million the court ruled was to be shared as follows: IEBC and County Returning Officer Sh1 million, Wanga and deputy Sh1.5 million, ODM Party Sh1 million.

Meanwhile, Gladys Atieno Nyasuna Wanga has hit the ground as Homabay Governor, literally running. She is among the few newly elected governors to transform the infrastructure, industry, and medical sectors of their counties within the first 100 days in office.

Among other things, Wanga has even launched a County maize flour brand.
