A press briefing by Kenya University Students Organization (KUSO) president triggered panic among government operatives who swooped on the Press Center at Chester House and arrested the students.
Security agencies are on tenterhooks only hours away from the Nairobi mass action called by Azimio leader Raila Amollo Odinga.
While the students were addressing issues that mainly had to do with the welfare of their comrades the government purported the presser to be in support of the Monday protests.
It took the intervention of Raila Odinga who dispatched lawyer Danstan Omari to rescue the student leaders from the claws of the police.

Earlier on the Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) called on workers to ignore the Raila-imposed Monday holiday saying there are better ways to address the stalemate between Raila and the government.
Already pockets of demonstrations have been reported in several towns including Eldoret, Kisumu, Murang’a, and Donholm Estate in Nairobi.
Also present at the press briefing were student leaders from other Universities and one who has been associated with the Azimio group that dresses in military paraphernalia and goes by the name of Movement for Defense of Democracy (MDD).
