On Saturday afternoon, at his Asembo home, Cabinet Secretary Mr Eliud Owalo was delighted to hold a consultative meeting with grassroots leaders from all over Nyanza to discuss development issues affecting the local residents with a view to evaluating gaps in line with the Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) and mapping out interventions.
Among the issues canvassed were mitigation measures against the anticipated El Niño rains, job creation initiatives for the youth, food security, and SME business development among other issues.
The meeting resolved to, among other interventions, facilitate formation of the various business groups into cooperatives to improve their value propositions, work with partners to enhance uptake of available business and development funding opportunities from both Government, the private sector and development agencies among other proposed interventions.
Among the leaders present were PS Ministry of Interior, Dr. Raymond Omollo; Chairman Lake Basin Development Authority, Dianga Waore; Chairman Kenya Institute of Mass Communications, Charles Owino; John Odek, Director Utalii College; Luke Kirindo, Director Lake Basin Development Authority; and Frederick Syengo, Director Postal Corporation of Kenya, among other leaders.
