On Sunday morning in Kisumu, Interior PS, Dr. Raymond Omollo and CS Eliud Owalo convened an early morning working breakfast with senior Government officers, opinion leaders, professionals, academicians and the political class from the counties of Kisumu, Migori, Homabay and Siaya, to discuss development projects in their regions and their alignment with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), identify gaps and propose interventions.

Some of the leaders present included George McGoye (Chief of Staff DPs Office), Fred Outa (CAS Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs), Eng. Nicholas Gumbo (CAS Roads and Transport),
William Oduol (Siaya Deputy Governor), Jack Ranguma (Chairman SASRA), Charles Owino (Chairman KIMC), Edick Anyanga (Chairman Kenya Nuclear Regulatory Authority) Martin Ogindo (Chairman Kenya Fish Marketing Authority), Odoyo Owidi (Chairman Lake Victoria South Water Works Development Agency), Jared K’Opiyo (Chairman SONY Sugar), Diang’a Waore (Chairman Lake Basin Development Authority), Eng. John Nyambok (Chairman, Chemilil Sugar), Rose Nyamunga (Chairperson Postal Corporation of Kenya), John Omingo (Director General, Kenya Maritime Authority), Dr Pamela Olet (Chairperson Nairobi Rivers Commission), Eng. Maurice Akech, (Executive Director, Kenya Construction Authority), Jacqueline Kotonya (MD, Chemilil Sugar), Eng. Sam Alima (Water Secretary), Willis Audi (CEO, AFA), Prof. Ongati (Chair Maseno University Council), Prof. Mitema (Chairman Bomet University Council), Ken Onditi ( KNCCI, Nyanza Representative), Israel Agina (Chairman, KNCCI Kisumu), Phares Odira (Director, Bomas of Kenya) Frederick Syengo, Director Postal Corporation of Kenya), Lake Basin Development Authority Directors: Aggrey Otore, Luke Kirindo, Rebecca Maroa, Lavender Ojala; Duncan Ojwang (Director, KPLC), Samuel Ong’ow (Director AFA), Nancy Oranga (Min of Labour and Social Protection Director) among other leaders, John Odek (Director Utalii College).

Although the meeting tended to lean towards support for the ruling UDA Party, it was composed of the most credible professional and political cadres in Nyanza. This raises the pertinent question whether wholesale condemnation of politicians who associate with President Dr William Ruto is justified, or it’s time to re-evaluate the strength of the new political shift in Nyanza.

Also present were political leaders including Elizabeth Ongoro, Pollyns Daima, Kennedy Obuya, Silvance Osele, Fredrick Ogenga, and Valentine Ogongo; among others.
