Kathryne Maundu has resigned from her role as the Company Secretary of Safaricom PLC, effective 30th September 2023. Ms. Maundu has been part of the Safaricom PLC board for seven years. During this period she has served in various roles.
Ms. Maundu currently serves on the East African Breweries Limited (EABL) board. In addition, she is a partner at Stamford Corporate Services LLP, part of Bowmans in Kenya.
She is an expert in Corporate Governance within the East Africa region and has been instrumental in advising leading corporates in the public and private sector, over the last 15 years.
Previously, she has been named as a Top 40 Under 40 Women in Kenya.
Her resignation comes shortly after former CEO Michael Joseph quit his role as board director of Safaricom PLC.
Kathryne Maundu Replaced
Safaricom’s board has moved fast and announced a replacement.
“The Board is also pleased to announce the appointment (subject to regulatory approval) of Ms. Linda Mesa Wambani as the acting Company Secretary of Safaricom PLC with effect from 1″ October 2023.” wrote Safaricom in a Statement.
Ms. Linda Mesa is a Kenyan advocate and is currently a Senior Legal Counsel at Safaricom PLC. Her current role cuts across Safaricom PLC, M-Pesa Foundation, and Safaricom Ethiopia.
Ms. Mesa undertook her Bachelor of Law(LL.B) studies at the University of Nairobi. Further, she holds a Master of Business Administration in Strategic Management from the United States International University (USIU) and a Master of Laws Degree in Commercial Law from the University of Nairobi.
