Trendsetting President Ruto to Hold First Ever Cabinet Meeting in Luo Nyanza

President William Ruto will chair a historic Cabinet meeting during his visit to the Nyanza region.

The President is set for a four-day development visit in the Nyanza region in counties including Kisumu, Homa Bay, Siaya and Migori.

The Cabinet meeting will be held at the Kisumu State Lodge in Kisumu County.

This will be the first time a sitting president will be holding a Cabinet meeting in the Millennium City that has always voted for opposition leader Raila Odinga to a man.

However, it will not be the first time that President William Ruto has overlooked tradition and taken his Cabinet meetings to counties.

The latest Cabinet meeting Ruto chaired outside Nairobi was on August 29, when he held one at the Kakamega State Lodge in Kakamega County.

The Cabinet meeting was part of the President’s tour of the western Kenya region.

On Tuesday, Ruto chaired a Cabinet meeting in Nairobi where they agreed on various matters including the lifting of a ban placed on the issuance of prospecting and mining licences across the country.

The Cabinet also rescinded the controversial nationalisation of Telkom Kenya and directed the seller to refund the money.

The meeting in Kisumu will also be the first one since Ruto reshuffled his cabinet.

In a communication dispatched by Head of Public Service Felix Koskei, EAC CS Rebecca Miano was moved to the Trade and Industry docket to replace the former Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria.

Kuria was moved to the Ministry of Public Service, Performance and Delivery Management.

Water CS Alice Wahome has swapped positions with Zachary Njeru of the Ministry of Lands, Public Works and Urban Development.

Foreign and Diaspora Affairs CS Alfred Mutua has been redeployed to the Tourism and Wildlife docket while Public Service, Gender and Affirmative Action CS Aisha Jumwa has been moved to the Ministry of Gender, Culture, Arts and Heritage.

Peninah Malonza has been transferred from the Tourism docket and assigned to the Ministry of East Africa Community, the ASALS and East Africa Development.
