On Thursday Siaya Governor James Orengo pursued partnerships with the renowned Aspire Academy, based in Doha, Qatar, to enhance sports development and infrastructure in the county.

In a statement on his X account, Orengo revealed his ambitious plan emphasizing the importance of youth empowerment and talent development within his administration’s goals.

Orengo disclosed that he recently engaged in extensive discussions with Ivan Bravo, the Director General of Aspire Academy, a prestigious sports complex known for its focus on talent scouting and development.

“We are deliberately seeking partnerships that will buttress our efforts in developing quality sports infrastructure as well as moulding our youth into globally competitive sportsmen,” Orengo explained

“Youth Empowerment through talent development remains an integral aspect of the Nyalore manifesto that we are studiously delivering on for the people of Siaya,” Orengo affirmed.

Aspire Academy
Aspire Academy, located in Doha, Qatar, is a renowned sports academy dedicated to the development of young athletes, primarily in the fields of football (soccer) and athletics.

Established in 2004, it has gained international recognition for its state-of-the-art facilities, high-quality coaching, and its mission to nurture the talents of aspiring athletes.

In the meantime, the much-touted Siaya Stadium with a seating capacity of  20,000 enters its 7th year of construction prompting many to wonder how genuine the partnership in sports is. Some people have speculated that the Governor is simply out on a photo shoot to justify the monumental expenses the County government has incurred on this excursion.
