A woman in Migori who got married early after clearing class 8 has shared her painful marital ordeal with the digital media.
Lucy Ochieng has been married twice, but none worked as both emotionally drained her due to the challenges.
She recalled her first marriage, where she was given to marriage by her mother after finishing Class 8.
Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, the single mother of five said her husband, who had married before, despised her.
Hubby chatting with other women
“I got pregnant, and he started bringing other women to the house. I would leave the bed to those other women and sleep on the floor. He would bring food, and I would cook as they sat talking; then sometimes the women would leave, or other times he would ask me to make the bed for them,” she tearfully narrated.
Ochieng said this continued for a while, and she could not question her husband as she was treated as a child.
Decline to sleep on the floor
However, one day, she said enough was enough and abandoned her marriage after the mistreatment was too much to handle.
“There was a day he brought another woman to the house, and as usual, I made food for them, but that day I declined to make the bed for them. He made the bed and then spread a mattress for me to sleep on with the baby on the floor.
I refused and left them in the house. When I came back in the morning, he started beating me. Later, my sister came for me, took me and my clothes, and we left. I thought he would come home, but he never did,” the Migori woman said.
In a related story, a Nyandarua woman said she chose her bedridden dad over her marriage.
Rachel Waithira Karua, a mother of three, recalled her second husband telling her to choose between him and her sick father.
Waithira picked her ailing father over her selfish husband, saying she could not leave her dad, who had a stroke.
She tearfully shared that her husband, who left with their daughter, had given her dad three weeks to live because of his dire situation.
