Mombasa-based musician Ally B is dead.
According to his brother Mohammed Ramadhan, the singer died at the Coast General, Teaching and Referral Hospital in Mombasa on Wednesday afternoon.
Mohammed said Ally B returned home in the afternoon and said that he was not feeling well.
“We took him to Makadara, but he did not make it,” he said.
Ally B is fondly known for hit songs such as Maria, Mkufu Wangu, Bembea, Kadzo, Naona Raha and Ziki La Nazi, among others.
“We’re in deep grief to announce the death of our big brother Ally B Khamisi. May his soul Rest In Eternal Peace. Rest in Peace Bro (sic),” singing duo CSM Wazito mourned the departed artiste.
Ally B, real name Ali Khamisi Mwaliguli, had tried his hand at politics and vied for a Member of the County Assembly seat in Junda Ward in Kisauni, Mombasa county under a Jubilee party ticket in 2017. However, he lost out to Musumba Raphael Bwire of the ODM Party.
He however rejected the outcome released by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission insisting that he was rigged out.
The singer is also known for spearheading peace efforts in the coastal city, especially in Kisauni.
