Drama ensued at a sugarcane farmers rally in Kakamega when Mumias East MP Peter Salasya was engaged in a bitter scuffle with the irate farmers.
According to reliable reports, the MP suffered kicks and blows over his stand of allegedly siding with a local investor known as Sarrai Group instead of supporting the Kakamega County Government and the farmers.
The reports indicate that the farmers have accused local politicians of going to bed with sugar cartels and specifically Mr. Peter Salasya for not defending them.
Incidentally the youthful Salasya, who was speaking on the stage, had tried defending his stand while throwing jabs at those who were near him. He read the mood wrong.
Things escalated fast and he was kicked out of the stage with kicks and blows, forcing his security detail to act swiftly and defend him from further punishment.
“Wale wanasema aah unaambia nani hivo na ninasema ukweli” posed the MP before a section of irate residents stormed the dias and kicked him out.
The MP was whisked away to safety as angry residents kept baying for his blood.
