Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza on November 9 survived for the second time a bid to be removed from office by way of impeachment.
But her woes are far from over. On Wednesday 15 Members of the County Assembly filed for impeachment of 6 of her County Executive Members, 2 of her Chief Officers and her Chief of Staff.
The grounds of Impeachment of members of her cabinet have arisen from evidence she provided in her defence before the Senate.
The majority of the 47 Senators thrashed out all the seven allegations levelled against the first-term governor including misappropriating county resources, nepotism and unethical practices, bullying and vilifying other leaders, usurping her statutory powers, contempt of court, illegally naming a public road after her husband and contempt of the Meru County Assembly.
Meanwhile, unverified reports on social media indicate that a private individual has initiated yet another process for Governor Mwangaza’s Impeachment, claiming she had contravened the Constitution of the Republic of Kenya.
