The High Court in Nairobi on Monday temporarily barred the recent move by the Head of Public Service Mr Felix Koskei to suspend 67 police officers over corruption.
In a ruling issued on Monday, November 20, the High Court has overturned the move, stating that the officers remain in service untill an application written by the IG of police Japheth Koome is heard and determined.
The officers were among the several state officials including six Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of various Government parastatals who were suspended over corruption.
With the Court’s move, it’s now expected that the 67 officers are not sent packing until investigations linking them to the aforesaid charges are complete and their case determined.
The Head of State, Dr William Ruto had okayed the decision to suspend and prosecute the individuals accused of graft in his administration.
The President has also been on the fore front in fighting corruption, which he has since maintained that it’s a deal breaker on matters of economic revival.
