Police in Kasupil constituency are looking for a man who killed his friend after they allegedly disagreed on the method of playing poker.
The suspect disappeared after being linked to the death of Geoffrey Odhiambo.
Odhiambo, 28, was stabbed death by the suspect who is said to have been his friend in Oyugis town.
Oyugis Town chief Nelson Muma said the suspect approached Odhiambo together with a colleague as they were playing cards on Monday evening.
The suspect reportedly ordered his fellow youth who were already playing to change the method of playing the game.
He wanted them to change rules of engagement such that the winner of the game walks away with a cash reward.
But his colleagues insisted to continue playing the game merely for entertainment purposes.
Their responses annoyed the suspect who pounced on Odhiambo with a knife.
“Odhiambo bled a lot after being stabbed on the forehead. He died while undergoing treatment,” Muma said.
Odhiambo was rushed to Rachuonyo South Sub-County Hospital for medical care.
His condition worsened and was transferred to Kisii Level Five Hospital in Kisii town where he died on Tuesday.
A group of youths in Oyugis town raided the home of the suspect at Kamuoso village in East Kamagak location.
They torched his house and household goods that were inside.
Rachuonyo South sub-County police commander Lilies Wachira said they have launched a manhunt to arrest of the killer suspect.
“We are asking residents about his whereabouts to help us get hold of the suspect. He disappeared but will not escape,” Wachira said.
The police boss urged residents not to take the law into their hands over the matter.
“Let residents stop the habit of revenging whenever something happens. We want people to report criminal issues for investigation and appropriate action,” Wachira said
The body of the deceased was moved to Kisii Level Five Hospital morgue.
