In a startling revelation, Senator Samson Cherargei has accused Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen of receiving a staggering $100 million bribe during his multiple visits to China between June and October.
The Nandi Senator made the allegations, claiming that Murkomen’s advocacy for Chinese contractors in Kenya is directly linked to this substantial financial transaction.
Cherargei expressed concern about the fate of local contractors who supported the government but may now be overlooked in favor of Chinese firms. He challenged Murkomen to address the serious accusations and shed light on the purported multi-million dollar deal.
“The CS (Kipchumba Murkomen) has visited China severally, and you have heard him at the floor of the house defending the Chinese Contractors,” Senator Cherargei declared. “Where will the hustlers’ contractors who voted for us go if you are giving them contracts? It is because he has received a bribe, and I am daring him to come clean on the allegations of receiving $100 Million US Dollars from China.”
“I want him to come out because every time he comes to insult me in the funerals, he defends the Chinese Contractors,” Cherargei continued, hinting at a potential motive behind Murkomen’s alleged actions.
The Senator and the CS have been exchanging words in the public because of their political differences. Recently, Cherargei was kicked out of the Senate during the questioning of the Transport CS by Senators.
Both Murkomen and Cherargei have been confidants of President William Ruto in the past.
