The National Dialogue Committee will make public its report today bringing to an end months of push and pull between the two main political blocks in Kenya.

The Committee co-chaired by National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah and former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka made late-night sittings to negotiate the five thematic areas it had set out for deliberations.

The Committee also considered agenda number six which was basically issues expressed by Kenyans during the stakeholders’ engagements.

Mr. Ichung’wah announced that the team had agreed on the framework of the report and was to compile the final document on Friday.

“We are now towards the tail end agreeing on all the nitty-gritty of what will constitute our report which I do hope we shall be here to deliver with the technical and secretariat team on Saturday,” Ichung’wah said.

“We can announce to the country that we shall be able to have a report adopted and released to the country on Saturday, a day ahead of our deadline of November 26 which is Sunday.”

The position was also buttressed by Kalonzo who is leading the opposition delegation in the talks.

“Just to affirm that our engagement with Prof. Ndung’u was centered on the taxation regime and of course the very important matter of cost of living,” Kalonzo said.

Siaya’s own Ugunja Constituency MP and Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Mr James Opiyo Wandayi also played a central role in the talks.
