It’s a relief for traders in West Asembo that the construction of Wang Arot Market is now complete. According to sources on the ground the facility is also ready for occupation.
While posting over the same, Siaya County Governor James Orengo on his Twitter handle said:
“Big reprieve for small scale traders in West Asembo, construction of Wang Arot Market is now complete. Provision of user friendly working spaces around hygienic environment for our traders remains a key priority of my administration.”
In related news a trader at the market before the present rehabilitation said there were instances of favouritism in the allocation of stalls. She said a certain local politician was interfering with the market authority in allocating stalls to their cronies and supporters.
This claims are yet to be verified as we seek independent information from the ground.
The County Government of Siaya is planning to set up similar modern market facilities in Ndori, East Asembo Ward, Nyadorera in Usonga Ward and Ajigo in North Sakwa Ward.
