A dramatic shooting incident took place on Thursday afternoon along the Naivasha- Mai Mahiu road.
A traffic police officer opted to fire several shots in the air while being pursued by EACC officers.
Sources say three police officers manning a roadblock on the road were collecting bribes from motorists when they got wind of the fact that they were being monitored by officers from EACC.
When they realised that the EACC officers were closing in for the arrest one of the rogue traffic officers took off running while firing in the air to scare off the officers in pursuit.
The rogue traffic police officers were under surveillance for an hour in which time they collected KES 15,000 from motorists. The money was recovered from them in full.
Over the past few weeks, the number of rogue officers arrested by officials from the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission has increased exponentially. The arrest today was made possible by citizens sharing intel on the activities of some rogue police officers with the government Anti-corruption agency.
