Police in Ugenya Sub-County are investigating the murder of 32-year-old Chris Olunga at a liquor store.

It is said that Olunga was stabbed to death at Sihayi Trading Center by friends with whom  they were drinking together. As reported by Citizen Digital, Ligala deputy chief Chrispine Onyango confirmed the incident, revealing that Olunga’s body was found lying on the road in an alley near a liquor store.

Onyango said the deceased was moved to a camp in Sega town, an act which is said to have displeased the locals.

He explained that the locals created a disturbance wanting to know how the deceased was killed and why the police were in the process of moving the body without informing his relatives. The deputy chief revealed that residents turned their anger to the Sihayi police station burning it down as they demanded answers about the murder. Onyango said the residents were determined to do justice and went to the home of the suspected murderer, where they set fire to his house.

Later, they returned to the business center and burned part of the liquor store where the two are said to have been arguing. Onyango pointed out that the area that the residents filled with anger did not find the suspect at home as he surrendered to the police and was locked up at the Ukwala Police Station.

Elsewhere, a 32-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly killing his 53-year-old colleague following a money dispute in Uganda.

Aldo Okello Akech allegedly stabbed his client Tarasisto Okwera after a disagreement over how he would pay for his services. According to Monitor, Akech repaired Okwera’s faulty lock for KSh 80, but when it came time to pay, he asked to pay half and the balance later. Police said that is when Akech turned violent and stabbed Okwera in the left side, leaving him bleeding. “The suspect repaired the victim’s lock for KSh 80, which he demanded from the victim. The victim gave him KSh 40 and asked him to return the balance of KSh 40 later but the suspect turned violent and demanded the full amount.

He then took a knife from the victim, chased him and stabbed him in the left side of the side,” said police spokesperson, Fred Enanga. Locals rushed him to the nearest medical center, but he passed away on the way.
