Siaya: Health Facilities Restocked with Medicines

The County Government of Siaya has expressed commitment to transforming the health care system in line with the Nyalore Manifesto through a 9-point promise. Number one is to improve access to quality and affordable care through the provision of essential health commodities (availability of drugs in all health facilities).

To fulfil its promise, the Department of Health strives to supply health facilities every quarter with these essential health products and Technologies.

Today 10 hospitals have received supplies and the remaining 163 rural health facilities which comprise health centers and dispensaries will begin receiving their respective supplies from tomorrow. This is a last-mile delivery and will be delivered directly to the facilities including far-flung areas and Islands like Ndeda and Mageta.

The Health Products and Technologies will enhance the diagnosis and treatment of common illnesses as well as chronic conditions like hypertensive, diabetic and psychiatric illness and emergencies which could arise during the festivities with the anticipated influx of people travelling home for Xmas and New Year Holidays.

The supplies is valued at 35M, of which 20M is for drugs.The next refill is anticipated in February 2024.
