Siaya Governor James Orengo Accompanies President Ruto to India

Hours after President William Ruto landed in India for a two-day state visit, a popular ODM governor from the Nyanza region has caused a storm online after he was pictured in India with Ruto.

This was after Siaya Governor James Orengo was pictured together with other three governors from the Lake Region Economic Bloc (LREB) in India. Taking to his X space, President William Ruto featured Orengo together with his Bomet Counterpart Hillary Barchok and Nandi’s Stephen Sang in a meeting in India.

Ruto said the three among others had accompanied him to advocate for good infrastructures for their respective counties in the lake region. In the pictures shared, Ruto could be seen all smiles as he, together with Orengo and others met Dr. Srinivasa Raju Gannavarapu, CEO, Procorp Enertech Private Limited.

“Good infrastructure facilitates the expansion of opportunities and economic growth. The Lake Region Economic Bloc (LREB) have an ambitious plan to link their counties and bring the benefits of connectedness to the people by building the roads that will create prosperity for this and future generations” read Ruto’s tweet

Ruto arrived in India on Monday after leaving Dubai and was accompanied by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, who is also the CS for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, among other leaders. Ruto will later hold bilateral talks with his host Narendra Modi.

However, Kenyans were quick to react on Orengo’s picture. This was because the governor has been one of the vocal ODM leaders against Ruto’s administration.

“Orengo Raila’s right-hand man is here sitting and discussing development issues with President Ruto while Raila is busy lying to Luhyas how Ruto’s administration is bad and that Luhya leaders shouldn’t embrace Ruto!! Political conmanship indeed” stated one user.

“Seeing Governor Orengo in this post has impressed me. Climate leadership requires inclusive, issue-based discussions and collaborations that transcend partisan emotions because we are all vulnerable to the negative effects. Thanks for your excellency ” added another user.
