Siaya County Scoops National Music Awards

Siaya County scooped several awards in the 96th Edition of the Kenya Music and Cultural Festival that has just ended in Makueni County. The Festival that seeks to enhance livelihoods and contribute to the realization of Kenya’s development through the promotion of cultural and creative industries was held at Wote Technical Training Institute in Wote Town.

Siaya County registered 72 items and was able to bring home 15 trophies and 90 certificates with the Siaya County Choir emerging the best in the set piece presentation as defending champions having emerged the best in last year’s KMCF competition that was held in Kitui County.

Some of the various teams that represented Siaya County included; Yieke group, Promethean minds,
Alyp theatre, Individual Exhibitors (David Watta, Dave Marenya and Joyce Awandu), Kababa Arts, Komala Band, Korengo cultural group, PMC Choir, JOOUST community choir and Mabinju cultural group. According to Siaya Tourism, Culture and Sports Executive Angeline Oduor, the various teams are a proud manifestation of existing talents among the Siaya people and are a testament of what is possible if Governments support talents and culture.

The County Government of Siaya commits to continuously allocate resources to support talent and image promotion initiatives like these ones according to Madam Angeline Oduor.
