While addressing the nation from Uhuru Gardens during Jamhuri Day celebrations on Tuesday, President Dr William Samoei Ruto said his admininistration had reached an agreement with digital giant Meta to allow Kenyan creatives to generate income through the company’s social media platforms.
It’s worth noting that Meta does not provide a unique earning feature specific to any particular country but operates on a global platform with uniform requirements cutting across all continents.
If President Ruto was serious about such a claim then Kenyan content creators who have lately made a big impact on social media platforms associated with Meta could reap real big returns. The problem is that this might not be the first or last promise made by the president in his one year in office that is virtually impossible to fulfil.
