Mrs Priscah Amoit, wife to the Teso teacher shot dead by unknown assailants has revealed chilling details of what transpired during the robbery ordeal.
“I was hiding under the bed when they finally got me. They ambushed me at gunpoint, ordering me to give them money, which I provided. Still they assaulted me physically and verbally before making good their escape with an unknown amount of cash,” Mrs Amoit narrated.
Her husband, the Ong’arima Primary School headteacher was murdered in the attack by the robbers on Thursday night while she watched.
The attack took place at their rural home in Buteba Village, Teso South, in Busia County.
According to Priscah Amoit, the thugs broke into their house armed with guns and machetes and went straight for her husband, Charles Emoto. They assaulted him severally before shooting him dead.
The thugs then ransacked the house and found Priscah hidden underneath a bed. At gunpoint she was roughed up and ordered to produce a money box whose existence the thieves appeared to have prior knowledge.
Mrs. Amoit sustained injuries on the forehead but was treated and discharged.
The body of the deceased headteacher was moved to the local morgue awaiting postmortem. Police from DCI have commenced investigations into the murder.
