The injured were rushed to the Mbooni Sub-County Hospital.

This came exactly two days after another accident in Londiani, Kericho county.

Casualties reported in Kericho accident
The Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) reported a mass casualty in the Thursday, December 14, incident.

According to KRCS, the road traffic incident involved a 66-seater bus.

“Response teams were activated,” the Kenya Red Cross posted on X.
In the statement, the humanitarian organisation disclosed that 40 casualties had been evacuated to Fort Tenarn Hospital and four others to Kericho County Referral Hospital by the county ambulance, EMS Kenya, and well-wishers.

“No fatalities were reported. Psychosocial support is ongoing by the Red Cross Action Team,” KRCS further said.

What the Kericho police boss said about the Londiani crash
Kericho Traffic Police Commander Paul Kipkeu confirmed the Thursday dawn accident, saying it involved a Busia-bound bus belonging to Promise Company.

“The bus belonging to Promise Company was involved in an accident when the driver George Otieno Okoth swerved and veered off the road while trying to avoid hitting another motor vehicle,” Kipkeu said.

Kipkeu further revealed that the bus was ferrying passengers from Nairobi to Busia when the accident occurred.

The passengers suffered serious and minor injuries including fractures.

Fifty-two people died near the spot in June this year when a trailer rammed into a matatu, boda boda riders, and pedestrians at the buzzing Londiani Junction.
