Hundreds of residents of Uasin Gishu, Nandi and Kakamega Counties today thronged President Ruto’s home in Sugoi to receive Christmas gift giveaways.

Roads leading to Sugoi were jammed by Kenyans eager for the handouts as early as 4 am Friday morning.

The foodstuff packed in gunnybags branded with the picture of the president were ferried in several lorries to Ruto’s Sugoi home.

The package contained wheat flour, cooking oil and rice.

According to Citizen Digital, Philip Lagat, a neighbour to the president says he was shocked by the number of people who turned up today morning.

“I was really shocked, people as far as Chepterwai in Nandi, Kakamega and Trans Nzoia counties were here very early in the morning, I think Kenyans are really suffering due to hard economic times,” noted Lagat.

He said the president has been holding the same in the last years but he has never experienced such a huge number of people.

The Head of State called on Kenyans to have a positive outlook on their nation no matter what, adding that challenges were being resolved.

He said though the economy is on recovery, Kenyans should be optimistic that one day all shall be well.

On Wednesday, the president alongside First Lady Rachael Ruto together with Uasin Gishu leadership led by Governor Jonathan Bii had hosted children from 50 children homes across the county in preparation for the upcoming Christmas season celebrations at Eldoret State Lodge.

Christmas festivities as celebrated by Christendom on 25 December are not authenticated by the Christian Bible. Theologians believe the event has its roots in paganism and global commerce. Politicians use the occasion adeptly to spread out love.
