Siaya Governor James Aggrey Bob Orengo on Tuesday 26 December 2023 hosted high-flying dignitaries at his end-of-year party dubbed Kuchakucha.
Among others, the dignitaries who attended included Azimio leader Raila Amollo Odinga, Roots Party leader George Wajakoyah, Busia Governor Paul Otuoma, Alego-Usonga MP Samuel Atandi and Woman Representative Dr Christine Ombaka.
Orengo said the end-year-party gig was a long-standing tradition between himself and Baba as they always seized the opportunity to socialize and take a break from the rigours of politics and governance.
The event provided a platform to let loose and shake a limb. This year’s event was no exception.
Graced by Kayamba Africa and Benga maestro Prince Indah the guests and hundreds of others were entertained to the brim.
This kuchakucha event brought together professionals from the legal fraternity and friends of Orengo including Kisumu Woman Representative Ruth Odinga.
Orengo at the same time called on supporters of Raila to register as members of ODM to strengthen the party.
The county boss said Raila will wield powers to bargain for the interests of Kenya if he has strong backing from the party members.
“If you love Raila, kindly register in big numbers,” said Orengo, adding that the current economic distress pegged on the high cost of living can only be alleviated by one man: Raila Amollo Odinga.
Orengo’s remarks came barely two days after Alego-Usonga MP Samuel Onunga Atandi pleaded with Raila not to hang up his political boots, yet.
Orengo said he has been transversing the country on political matters and has heard those who voted for President William Ruto complaining bitterly and regretting why they did not vote for Baba.
On his part, Atandi said a high possibility existed that Raila could ascend to the presidency before 2027.
“Baba, Kenyans still value you and would like you to fight for their interests. Going by the problems facing this country, I foresee Raila taking this leadership mantle before 2027.
“Ruto and his lieutenants grabbed power and the shield is heavy for them hence they are unable to run the affairs of this country effectively,” said Atandi.
Similar sentiments were uttered by Raila on Monday when he declared that Ruto grabbed power and has no tangible idea of how to solve the problems facing this country.
“Ruto has power but lacks strategies that would make him resolve issues affecting the country. Ruto should invite economic experts and technocrats for a conversation that would resolve the problems,” said Raila while attending church service at St. Peter’s Nyamira ACK church on Christmas day.
