Fingers are being pointed at a senior Siaya politician who was the Chairman of the burial committee of the late Douglas Ochieng Odero for not providing proper accounts concerning burial contributions amounting to KES 400,000.
The late Daggy also known as Odero Spoiler was buried in a colourful ceremony at Ndheyo village in Ojwando B Sub-location of Central Alego Ward on Thursday this week.
Leading Siaya politicians including Governor James Orengo, Deputy Governor Dr William Oduol, Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi, Alego-Usonga MP Samuel Atandi, Gem MP Elisha Ochieng and Dr. Christine Ombaka, among others, attended the burial.
Sources claim that the money which was raised with an intention to assist in educating the children of the deceased and constructing a decent house for the family has now been placed into a holding account by the politician.
The same sources revealed that the politician engaged the services of a vocal female Siaya political activist dubbed Rottweiler in this nepherious scheme.
“Mae committee motimo savings mar close to 1m and the family is aware since they had 2 representatives in the committee,” said a family member speaking on condition of anonymity.
DalanewsKe is yet to get a confirmation or denial from the office of the politician and will be bringing you updates on this story as and when that communication is made.
