From the sea of humanity some of whom crossed over the new year at Migwena Sports ground with others braving the morming cold to come and watch as the teams battled to get the coveted 1M prize tag put on winners of the boys football. Not even the heavy morning downpour could dampen their spirit to watch the games to the end.

Governor James Orengo who graced the occasion in the company of various elected leaders from across the county and invited guests and members of the county executive all stayed glued to their chairs watching the cutthroat football match finals which pitted Bondo United against Ugunja Fc where the former fought gallantly and edged the later to second position in a thrilling match between the two to bag the much covered 1 million cash prize and trophy with the second placed Ugunja Fc taking home 500,000. Rarieda Fc bagged 250000 after coming 3rd with 4th placed Alego Usonga getting 100000.

Other sports disciplines where winners were awarded cash prizes included, Legball , Volleyball, Netball, Sitting volleyball, Boxing ,Deaf Football and Tug of War.

In his speech to the jubilant sports lovers and players , Governor Orengo reiterated Nyalore administration’s commitment to nurture talent at the grassroots which will go hand in hand with improvement of sports facilities across the county as demonstrated by the ongoing works on the perimeter wall around Migwena Sports ground and funds already allocated for improvement of the playground and the pitch’s drainage system.
