Minority Leader James Opiyo Wandayi hosted Raila Odinga and other leaders from Siaya County at his rural home in Ugunja. The Orange Democratic Movement party members were in Siaya for a special meeting.
Raila and his entourage have been in the Nyanza region for the last three days. They attended the burial of ODM Party Migori Chairman on Saturday.
They have been holding meetings (some not publicised) with leaders across the region. Apparently among the top items on the agenda has been mapping out strategies to contain an influx of UDA Party support in the region.
Opiyo Wandayi is the Minority Leader in the National Assembly and also serves in numerous Parliamentary committees include PAC and the Justice and Legal Affairs committee.
He was reelected Ugunja Member of Parliament in the 2022 General Elections. He has served in parliament for ten years.
Raila Odinga has been leading an ODM Party membership registration exercise countrywide.
The new registration putsch aims at not only recruiting new members but also strengthening the party ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
Opiyo Wandayi has been a close ally of Raila Odinga for many years. They have maintained a strong bond and unique working relationship that has always seen the Ugunja MP appear next to Raila on important occasions, including when they had dinner at Statehouse with King Charles III.
