Don’t Listen to Detractors — Orengo Says During Launch of Multimillion Projects in Siaya

Siaya Governor James Orengo has hit out at those keen on derailing his development agenda saying that sideshows will not deter his bid to deliver his projects.

Orengo said he has an elaborate development agenda for Siaya and will ensure it is achieved despite criticism from political detractors.

Orengo spoke during the ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of a KES 52 million ring-road project that starts at Kababa Resort to Siaya Referral Hospital.

Orengo said he is on course in his quest to transform Siaya County.

“Don’t be concerned, those who are currently expressing doubts will eventually fall silent and applaud our achievements,” said Orengo.

“We are committed to seeing Siaya municipality get projects that benefits it’s status,” said Orengo adding that it’s such roads that attract investors.

“We are soon going to launch an KES 800 million modern market for Siaya town and it’s going to be integrated with a bus park. Affordable housing projects and upgrading of Siaya Referral Hospital are also on the pipeline.”

The Governor who was accompanied by Finance Executive Benedict Omollo, Tourism Executive Anjeline Oduor,  Trade Executive Grace Agola, Lands Executive Orege made an impromptu inspection of the ongoing works at Siaya Stadium. He made an assurance that the multi-billion 20,000 sitting-capacity stadium will be completed this year.

He also launched KES 4.8 million Uhembo Early Childhood Development Center whose construction was undertaken by Udonga Enterprises Limited.

He assured residents that the ECD centers will also be equipped with child friendly chairs.
Orengo said he is happy with the project and the contractor has proved works worthy of the financial input.

Governor Orengo made a stopover to inspect the newly imported KES 60 million rice milling project whose installation is ongoing at Siriwo, Usonga ward.

The rice project is going to relieve rice farmers from Usonga, Bunyala and Anyiko from the stress of exploitation by middlemen.

Siaya Township MCA James Obiero Otare and Usonga Ward MCA Silvester Madialo lauded the ongoing projects saying in the vernacular “resruok odonjo e dala” (meaning the projects will transform lives of Siaya residents).

Madialo said the project for Uhembo ECDE has been done to specification and is good value for money.

“The contractor’s workmanship is highly commendable,” said the Usonga Member of County Assembly.
