A 22-year-old gold miner died on Sunday night after he was electrocuted at Pap Ka’Mboha village in Alego-Usonga sub-County, Siaya County.
The miner identified as Vincent Odhiambo was electrocuted and died on the spot at a gold mining site where he had been working as a machine operator.
While confirming the incident, Siaya County police commander Cleti Kimaiyo said that the incident was reported by Bar-Ding sub-location Assistant Chief Musa Okello who stated that the deceased was struck within the mining site.
The body of the deceased was retrieved by members of the public and then moved by the police to Siaya County referral hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
