Drama ensued Thursday morning when Detectives attached to DCI swooped on a patient at Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital in Nairobi and arrested him even as he was in line awaiting surgery.
Sammy Kirato had been processed by nursing orderlies in readiness for a surgical procedure to remove a bullet lodged in his body when the police pounced.
It emerged that Kirato, a middle-aged man had been shot in gunfire exchange with the police a few days ago and has been on the run.
Without showing remorse the officers bundled Kirato into their waiting vehicle and took off to an undisclosed destination.
Shocked family members stood around looking on in consternation.
Efforts by the family members inquiring where their kin was being taken were brushed aside.
Sources at the hospital have confirmed the incident adding that whenever he was being taken, Kirato would require urgent medical attention as the wound was already festering.
