Police in Gem Wagai sub-county, Siaya County are investigating the mysterious death of a Ugandan national whose body was found lying beside a road along Akala-Luanda on Tuesday morning.
Confirming the incident, Siaya Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo said officers from Akala police station and Kambare police post visited the scene and found the body lying on the ground with no visible injuries.
He also confirmed that the body was established to belong to a Ugandan national identified as Alex Atoka.
Kimaiyo further stated that the officers searched the deceased’s pockets and found a hospital book from Akala Health Center inscribed with a doctor’s notes showing that he had been diagnosed with malaria and asthma on Monday.
The body has been moved to Bondo sub-county hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem as investigations into the mysterious death continue.
