ODM Party in Nyando Set for Record breaking Recruitment Drive, Says Wakili Fred Odumo Nying’uro

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party Nyando Branch on Saturday held strategic talks with Wakili Fred Odumo Nying’uro.

The talks which centred on how to popularize the party in the greater Nyakach region also discussed in detail how to lay down a cataclysmic strategy for the membership recruitment drive.

While launching the nationwide recruitment drive at Awelo Grounds in Siaya on 11 November 2023 Party leader Raila Amollo Odinga said membership registration was open online, in the branch offices and through rallies purposely held for recruitment. Raila also indicated that the exercise will go on until March 2024.

Already the party leader has been to the four counties of Nyanza, Mombasa and recently Bungoma.

Wakili Fred Odumo Nying’uro has been at the forefront of the drive to register new members and works hand in hand with the Kisumu branch office to maintain the party’s popularity in the region.

During the meeting in Nyando ODM Party officials led by Chairperson Mzee Apunda Magwar vowed to use their time, energy and personal resources to make the recruitment in Nyakach and Nyando an unrivalled success.

Also present were the Kisumu County ODM Party Secretary Ann Achok and former Awasi Councillor Micha Asunga.

Yet again, Wakili Fred Odumo Nying’uro reiterated his calls to focus on the youth and women during the recruitment drive.

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world,” Wakili quoted the late Nelson Mandela, adding “Our youth who are mostly knowledgeable should now be recruited into the party and provided with significant roles to play. A party becomes stronger and its policies more legitimate when it has a lot of active members. Especially if those members are a reflection of the society as a whole. Our youth are our strength.”

While the Nyando officials were full of praise for the contribution of their guest in uplifting the living standards of the residents of greater Kisumu County with great humility Wakili responded:

“For any individual who wants to contribute to the development of society in a certain direction, becoming a member of a party should be the best option. Party membership should give a person a more direct opportunity to influence what decisions are made than that given by the simple right to vote for a predetermined candidate.”

Wakili Fred Odumo Nying’uro has already offered himself as a candidate for the Kisumu County Senatorial seat.
