Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) Chief Executive Officer Twalib Mbarak has lauded Kisumu governor Anyang’ Nyongo’ for being accountable in the management of county resources.
Speaking after the retreat with the National Assembly’s Justice and Legal Affairs Committee, Mbarak said Kisumu was a model county for good and accountable leadership.
He blamed Kenyans for electing the wrong leaders, which has made it possible for them to steal public funds.
“It is open that some counties are less corrupt than others, and I will give you a good example because I am not campaigning for anyone. I have been to Kisumu, a very accountable county, by Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o. But there are some counties that have issues, and if you look at the key reason, it is that you elected the wrong leaders. You went and voted for funny guys, yet you are complaining that EACC is not working,” the EACC boss said.
