LEAKED: Rebellion Brewing Against Siaya County Assembly Speaker

Sources who spoke on strict conditions of anonymity have revealed that there’s growing dissent among Members of the Siaya County Assembly.

According to the sources, the planned rebellion against Speaker George Okode begins this week when Debate is scheduled to come up for the Impeachment of West  Ugenya MCA Andericus Oduor Odongo who is also the Deputy Speaker.

Mr. Odongo is said to have stood up against Okode on several contentious rulings bringing to question whether the Speaker was not exerting too much of a tight grip on the affairs of the Assembly.

The sources claim that the grip covers allocation of Ward Development Funds, selection to House Committees, payment of allowances and other resources and emoluments meant for MCAs.

The Speaker is enjoying a third term and has entrenched himself in the running of the Assembly up to the level where detractors claim he does it like a personal business.

The infighting between the Speaker and his Deputy Mr. Andericus Oduor Odongo is rather strange as the two have been described as the best of buddies and even accused at one point of acting in cahoots to defraud the assembly of money.

In 2020 Mr. Odongo who is serving his second term was grilled by EACC officers over KES 2.8 million paid out to facilitate a House Committee retreat in Kisumu which certainly never took place.

In the spirit of collective responsibility, the Speaker appears to have been covering for his Deputy until word came out that there’s a plan to impeach the West Ugenya MCA.

“I’m very clean as far as the allegations are concerned. My bank account has never received such an amount from the Executive,” Odongo said back in 2020 when he claimed to be clean on the allegation of swindling by the county government.

Our sources said: “Am aware Odongo nyocha oyanyo Speaker ni stupid e mbele other MCA’s in Kisumu now his case is before a committee which might approve his impeachment though he has massive support from Siaya Members of Parliament including Elisha Odhiambo and James Wandayi. Even the Governor himself is supporting him so this case might still go against Speaker Okode”.

Our sources further revealed that Siaya Legislature is silently at war with the Executive.
