Storm is Over Now As Okode Pardons Deputy Andericus Oduor Odongo

The Speaker of Siaya County Assembly George Owino Okode on Thursday opted to pardon his Deputy Andericus Oduor Odongo for the use of unsavoury language against his office and person.

While the decision came as a surprise to many, the few people in the know say that a great deal of boardroom negotiations took place before the decision was arrived at.

For Mr Okode it was a dicey situation which threatened to expose open rebellion among an important faction of members of County Assembly.

For those who thought that the Speaker was outgrowing his garb of office and it was time for trimming the unexpected capitulation came as a surprise.

What remains to be seen now is how he handles the negative publicity that has been stoked by a social media campaign which sought to paint him as anti-Execitive.

For many, the little storm has subsided but not fast enough to stop voters from speculating about the clout that it has been proved George Owino Okode wields on Siaya politics.
