Head of the State His Excellency Dr. William Samoei Ruto broke his silence with a powerful statement to Governors following his recent journey to the virtuous and model county of Homa Bay.

President Ruto has told Governors that he sincerely hopes for a friendly working relationship between the national government and the county administration in a statement dated today, February 20, 2024.

The President hinted that the state will carry out its constitutional mission of providing prompt and equal services to all Kenyan residents through cooperation and a cordial working relationship between the two levels of government.

During his recent journey to Homa Bay, the president revealed that some leaders started to ask him about why he had gone to the county to commission the development of affordable housing units at a county that is thought to be a stronghold of the opposition.

The President hinted that the leaders also informed him that because the opposition side opposed the project, the people living in Homa Bay would not be happy to see cheap housing units established.

The president clarified that all Kenyans have a constitutional right to obtain an equitable share of resources, but he implied that he proceeded with the construction of affordable housing units in the county in spite of opposition from a variety of leaders.

It was hinted by the President that the people also informed him that Homa Bay residents would not be happy with the construction of affordable homes because the opposition was against the project.

Though he acknowledged receiving criticism from a variety of sources, the president hinted that he proceeded with the county’s affordable housing project nonetheless, stating that every Kenyan has a constitutional right to obtain a fair portion of resources.

“In order to change our nation as a group, we must coordinate our ideas and goals, which calls for synergy. Simply to assuage your occasional concerns that we take our collaboration for granted. Because it allows us to accomplish so much, we don’t take for granted that we have a working relationship that isn’t destructive and adversarial. I’ll give you an illustration. Upon my visit to Homa Bay for the housing project, numerous people gave me advice on how to get there for sure. Why do you go to the next location where people are grumbling? These are the individuals that oppose housing. But as you can see, we are a nation beyond politics,” said President Ruto.
