An angry Mob in Nzoia, Bungoma County torched a car belonging to a police officer over claims that he was responsible for the shooting and killing of a night Watchman.
Sources indicated that a night guard was going home after completing his night shift when he was accosted by police officer in civilian clothing.
The officer who was driving during the incident slowed his vehicle and ordered the guard to stop but the guard didn’t obey the command since he didn’t know who the man was and his intentions.
After a bitter altercation the officer pulled out a pistol and shot the man dead. An angry mob reacted quickly and cornered the officer but he luckily escaped the scene leaving behind his car.
The car was burnt to ashes, the residents protested about insecurity and asked the government to jail such officers who use their position unlawfully. The body of the guard has been moved to Bungoma County Referral Hospital mortuary.
